Challenges
The company pays special attention to automation and digitalization projects actively developing its production with the help of IT technologies. The company has come a long way and has already had various production accounting systems, AI-advisors, integration data transfer buses, etc.
However, there were several hundred completely different processes (from technological to organizational) the accounting of which was still done manually in paper logs by employees on the ground.
At the same time all logs had their own information structure, filling rules, fillers and responsible persons.
The company saw the following development potential:
- Digitalization of data for subsequent use in AI advisors and enrichment of the corporate data warehouse (CDW)
- Increasing the reliability and safety of data
- Improving the quality and discipline of production logs management
To achieve these goals the Company set the task of unifying the process and transferring all logs into a single electronic form.
Solution
As part of the project an inventory was carried out of all processes where there were production logs, all specific requirements were gathered with target requirements to the system formulated.

More than 30 different shops and several hundred different logs were covered. For example:
- OCS (oxygen-compressor shop)
- BFS (blast furnace shop)
- WTS (Wheel-tire shop)
- Chief Mechanic Department
- Tech. maintenance and repair service
- Reception
- etc
And such logs as:
- Processing schedule
- Orders log ...
- Verification log
- Round log
- etc
Results
Improvement of data quality and accuracy
According to expert estimates as a result of the project the data quality improved by more than 30% thanks to the use of reference books, definition of mandatory fields and control of timeliness of filling.
Improving the accuracy of management decisions taken
Thanks to the subsequent integration of Production Logs data into management decision-making processes their accuracy and timeliness improved.
